Hey, hey food lovers. The weekend is here and I am looking forward to a break from the office for a while. It's winter-ish in Cape Town and the cold is making it difficult for me to get up in the morning, but nothing an excellent cup of coffee can't fix.
Speaking of excellent coffee, have you ever had a good cup of a coffee in an unlikely place? I did. I never expected to have an AWESOME cup on a wine estate, never espededit it!
Remember the WTM Africa event? I mentioned it in one of my previous posts (here) and they are on the final day of the trade show happening at the CTICC. As part of the build up, we visited Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch to taste their delicious wine assortment and of course Jordan Wines spoiled us with a delicious lunch.
Food: The luncheon started with two loaded ciabatta options, one vegetarian and one bacon. The bacon had the perfect amount of spring onion to compliment it and the vegetarian had Jordan Estate olives and pepperdews. Both were equally delicious and perfect for sharing! I almost couldn't believe that a minimalist vegetarian dish could be so yummy. All their breads are fresh baked by the bakery on the estate. The ciabatta was followed by savory tarts topped with apple chutney - these were gone before I could try them, my guess is that they were the good stuff! I kept my mouth busy with the hake goujons with tartar sauce and lemon. They were fresh and fried perfectly. I think I probably had about 8 of them...
Service: The guys and ladies at Jordan Wine Estate really know their thing. The wine kept on flowing, like they were literally their like faucets waiting to be opened when your glass was going empty. They were happy to accommodate my late request for coffee, which I appreciated. Anyone will tell you that it is annoying when someone declines your offer only to five minutes later say "you know what, you can make me that coffee!".
Decor: Everything was so simple and elegant. The estate takes advantage of it's green surroundings and keeps decor to the minimum. The green and light bounces off the glass and wood finishing for a beautiful finish.
Overall: 10/10 YUP, shorty is a whole TEN! The food was perfect, the setting was perfect, service perfect, alles net perfek!
P.S: I am going to start adding details on where to find the restaurants, and their contacts - just to make it easier for you to find them. Also, please comment below if there are any other cool things you would like to see on the blog.
